FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a general contractor coordinate for me?
Everything between the first visit and the final walkthrough: the scope, the schedule, the permits and every trade on site. Pacific Coast Contracting brings concrete and framing, drywall and painting, flooring, roofing, electrical, plumbing and HVAC, and window and door work under one contract, so you deal with one accountable team instead of hiring each trade yourself and sequencing them on your own.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. We manage the permit process for the work we take on, from drawings and applications to city inspections, in every municipality we serve, and we book and attend the inspections ourselves. Structural changes and electrical, plumbing or HVAC work generally need permits, and which authority issues them differs by city and by trade. Each city page under Service Locations sets out who issues what there.
Do you take on residential, strata and commercial projects?
Yes, all three. We take on general contracting for single-family homes, multi-unit and strata buildings, and commercial premises across the Lower Mainland. When a building stays occupied, we plan the work around the people using it: phased work zones, evening and weekend scheduling where it is needed, and building-management approvals and after-hours access arranged before the trades arrive.
How does a general contracting project start?
With an assessment. Send your details through the form on this page and we arrange a visit: we look at the property, measure and photograph the areas involved, and talk through what you want done. You then receive a written, itemised scope and quote. Once you approve it, we line up the permits, set the schedule and sequence the trades, and any change to the scope is agreed in writing before extra work starts.
Which areas do you cover?
We work across 17 Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley cities from our office in Port Coquitlam, from North Vancouver, Vancouver and Richmond east through Burnaby, Surrey and Langley to Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack. Our Service Locations page lists every one, each with its own local page. If your property is just outside them, ask us when you get in touch.
